Poppy was diagnosed with a left sided diagrammatic hernia at our 20 week scan. It was something we had never heard of and we were devastated and filled with so much worry and uncertainty. CDH UK sent a wonderful welcome pack and the information provided was extremely helpful to us when thinking about the pregnancy and what was to come. Poppy was then diagnosed later in the pregnancy with a diaphragmatic eventration. Poppy was then born on the 24th August 2023, weighing 8lbs 5oz at 40 weeks and she was doing really well. She was then sent for an X-ray to look at the eventration and we then discovered that it was a hernia all along. Once again we were shocked and heartbroken. However, Poppy had her repair surgery on day 5 and recovered so quickly. We were discharged from nicu on day 17 and Poppy started to enjoy life at home with her two older siblings. We are forever thankful for what the medical staff at St Michael’s Hospital in Bristol have done for us. Poppy is such a happy and healthy girl and we feel extremely lucky to have her in our lives. She is our little miracle.
