We found out that Natasha had a left sided diaphragmatic hernia at the 20 week scan. She was born four weeks early at UCLH before being transferred at two days old to Great Ormond Street Hospital and had an operation to repair the hernia at three days old. The repair was a success, however Natasha was left with severe reflux which kept her in hospital for six weeks. Natasha grew out of this which meant that it was a big milestone when we were able to bring her home. Six years later, there was a complication with her bowel due to the scar tissue from her hernia repair, resulting in another operation. Natasha was discharged from Great Ormond Street when she was seven and she is now seventeen, studying a levels and looking to go to University next year.
